Issue 002 of For Reference Only is dedicated entirely to the shoes found in FRANK, a now-defunct Women’s fashion magazine that published on a monthly basis between 1997-1999. The complete run is available to browse in our Reference Library. For Reference Only is an irregular dispatch of visual research: a series of papers compiling visual references loosely gathered according to a theme, and sourced from books in the Reference Point Library collection. This publication is intended to function simultaneously as a reconfigured library catalogue and image repertoire for researchers, inviting you to approach your research through chance correspondence and accidental encounters. We hope this lends itself to new ways of reading the contents of a library; but also, as an opportunity to gather that which is useful to you, stands out, pleases you, or to which you might feel some sort of affinity; enough so that it be rescued from the mass of ‘things,’ displayed and held in higher regard, for a moment - until perhaps, it is no longer of use. Each copy comes wrapped in white waxed tissue paper with a grid pattern washi paper tape.

‘Private 2: Emma’ is an candid story-portrait of model Emma Sugimoto by Japanese photographer Shunji Okura. The publication features over 50 black and white photographs, both portraits and nudes, scenes from daily life, in a soft, blurred and grainy monochrome – a sentimental and intimate example of erotic Japanese photography from the 1970s. Released as a supplement issue to Camera Mainichi - a monthly photography magazine in Japan established with the help of Robert Capa, featuring singular and unconventional work in photography.

'Weird Rooms' showcases some of the most bizarre and unique rooms in a selection of houses across the United States. From shrines to pop-icons and politicians to re-creations of spaceship interiors, these personal spaces - transformed by fetishes and obsessions - are each more eccentric and unconventional than the other. Interviews with the homeowners accompany the images, providing a glimpse into truly unusual instances of interior design.

Tracing her entire career from childhood drawings to set and stage designs for Beyonce, Shakespeare plays, The London Olympics and the Superbowl Halftime shows, with radical, ingenious, moving and breathtaking brilliance emanating from every page. You fall through the hole in the cover and tumble down at terminal velocity right out the other side. It's a mammoth work, of dizzying detail and elegance - every page is a surprise and a delight but never a gimmick. More than any book we've ever seen, its medium, content and playfulness work in spellbinding harmony. Its sum is greater than its parts, which is saying something because its parts are truly great. Words do not do this book justice, nor do pictures, videos or love songs. The only way to understand it is to see it in person.

A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius is a memoir by Dave Eggers released in 2000. It chronicles his stewardship of his younger brother Christopher "Toph" Eggers following the cancer-related deaths of his parents. Very fine condition with accompanying dust cover.

A Walk in the Night and Other Stories reveals La Guma as one of the most important African writers of his time. These works reveal the plight of non-whites in apartheid South Africa, laying bare the lives of the poor and the outcasts who filled the ghettoes and shantytowns. A walk in the night follows the story in which the collection takes its name from, A Walk in the Night, relates the story of a young man who is overtaken by the oppression of apartheid as he walks through the night to calm his nerves after being unjustly fired by his white supervisor. Very fine condition, little to no marks on the front or back cover.

A short collection of lengthy poems. Ginsberg has matured as an artist, and most of these poems are retrospective - Though there's still plenty of take no prisoners agitprop political poems. Condition is very fine.

The noted entertainer details the circumstances of his son's sudden joining of a religious enclave, the reasons involved, and the effects on his family and discusses the wider social context of cults and their converts. Condition is very fine, accompanying dust cover.

Wonderland Avenue: Tales of Glamour and Excess, first published in 1989, is the personal memoir of late author and The Doors' publicist Danny Sugerman, who went on to manage Ray Manzarek's solo-career. Great read for people with any interest about Manzarek or

The Corrections is a 2001 novel by American author Jonathan Franzen. It revolves around the troubles of an elderly Midwestern couple and their three adult children, tracing their lives from the mid-20th century to "one last Christmas" together near the turn of the millennium. Condition is very good.

Black comedy about Hakim Felix Ellellou, ex-dictator of Kush, a fictional Islamic state in Sub-Saharan Africa, narrates the history of his life and his rule over his former desert empire from his current exile in France. With his drought ridden country ever on the verge of a humanitarian crisis, Ellellou's troubles begin when the hated Americans begin sending food aid to his starving people. The crazed dictator has the crates of food burned to keep out the Americans but his second-in-command turns against him, secretly negotiating a deal with the United States for rights to the country's oil. Condition is very fine, comes with dust cover.

The Bonfire of the Vanities is a 1987 novel by Tom Wolfe. The story is a drama about ambition, racism, social class, politics, and greed in 1980s New York City, and centers on three main characters: WASP bond trader Sherman McCoy, Jewish assistant district attorney Larry Kramer, and British expatriate journalist Peter Fallow. Condition is near fine and is accompanied by dust cover.

The Magical Record of the Beast 666 by John Symonds and Kenneth Grant gives us a fascinating glimpse into the magical activities of Aleister Crowley during the years of the Great War. They can be read as a continuation of the experiments he made with fellow magician and poet Victor Neuburg, during 1914 in The Paris Working - a series of 'operations' which were a transition between the ceremonial rituals as taught in the Golden Dawn and the sex rites of the Ordo Templi Orientis. The sexual force replaced the lengthy conjurations of the past and the records aim to show to what extent the sexual 'current' can determine or influence events. Condition is very good, however some scuffs towards the top of the cover.

New Lines is an anthology edited by R. Conquest, containing work by himself, E. Jennings, John Holloway, Larkin, Gunn, Amis, Enright, Davie, and J. Wain, poets associated with the Movement. In his introduction Conquest attacked obscure and over‐metaphorical poetry, presenting the claims of ‘rational structure and comprehensible language’. New Lines Volume II added other poets including Thwaite, Scannell, and G. MacBeth. Condition is very fine with dust cover.

The Duke of Auge dreams that he is Cidrolin, living on a barge alone with his daughter, while Cidrolin dreams that he is the Duke of Auge, travelling through the history of France. They will meet in 1964. Carl Reinecke, a critic writing for the London Times, has argued that this novel is an example of the archetypal "prodigal son" storyline. Very fine condition, comes with dust cover.

An account of the author's discovery of prehistoric man-made ground patterns in the Glastonbury area and their zodiacal significance. In recent years detailed archaeological study has shown that in parts of the world prehistoric man had a far deeper understanding of astronomy than traditional historians were willing to accept. Glastonbury has always been at the heart of legends of chivalry and sanctity dating back for beyond written records, and has long excited the interest of scholars and seers.

Later edition of this novel about an African American Korean War veteran's experiences of violence while trying to exercise his right to vote in the segregated South. IF WE MUST DIE is Junius Edwards's first novel, expanded from his earlier short story "Liars Don't Qualify." Titled after the Claude McKay poem of the same name, IF WE MAY DIE presents the grim story of a Black man who returns home from the Korean War to violent racism in the US South.

A classic in all aspects, King's pet sematary changed the horror genre for the good and will be known as one of the best in that genre for many more years to come. Condition is fine with some small marks due to age.
