Born in Germany, Bukowski grew to be one of the most famous writers in contemporary poetry and prose. Bukowoski was brought to the United States at age three and was raised in Los Angeles. He published his first story when he was 24 and began writing poetry at the age of 35. Most of his books have now been published in translation in over a dozen languages.
